Introduction to CIVIL 52
Now in the 3rd Year, the idea is to provide a scenario driven
evenings entertainment played over 12 months using your
favourite team. Hopefully the
Reports section gives you a flavour.
First year was Infinite Crisis strangely then used by Wizkids
in one of their sets. Second was House of Crisis.
Requirments for joining the Campaign
- Choose a Hero team e.g X-Men, Fantastic Four etc. - Teams Assigned
- Choose 8 figures - non-aligned figures and from other teams can be chosen based upon comics and agreed by the Rob's
- Wildcard Teams - to currently be decided ?

Requirments for the evening of the Campaign
- Player will design a scenario and opposing teams - Details
- Plenty of figures between all the players so borrowing figures should not be a problem.
- Scenario's will have victory conditions that do not necessarily involve knocking out the most opponents.

Tips on Scenarios including future ones
Part Three (Mar 07)
There will be a lot of random damage blowing around so you are going to want some guest stars with damage reducing powers! (Corey is bringing Drax).
And can everone bring a set of objects I will need them all for the campaign.
Part One (Jan 07) - There ought to be clones
Some of the most powerful villains ever to trouble the world have been cloned by a shadowy cult intent on world domination. The heroes learn of this and dispatch a team to destroy the cloning banks. However the villains realise what is happening and try to activate their creation early to defeat the heroes.
- Setup
Use one of the thin maps (preferably Armour Wars Lab). Place a special token near the centre square such that it is surrounded by clear terrain; this is the clone tank. Place the highest point villain on the special token, this is the clone.
No objects may be placed adjacent to the clone tank, either at deployment or during the game. No objects may be placed in doorways.
Player One: Hero player decides on preferred starting area. Villain player takes first turn. - Special Rules
- The Villain leader character gains Leadership if they do not have it already.
- Any generics who are KOed or removed from play (see below) are placed back in the villains starting area at the start of the villains' next turn.
- The clone blocks line of sight as normal, whether imprisoned or free.
- Smoke cloud and barrier tokens may not be placed adjacent to the clone tank (this is an ability of the tank, not the clone).
- The clone's tank feeds on bio-electricity (apparently). If a character on either team is pushed and in a square adjacent to the tank, the character is removed from play immediately. Once the tank has fed on five characters in this way, the clone is freed. Remove the special token from the board and ignore the tank's special abilities.
- Once freed, the clone will take an action on each of the villain's next two turns, attacking as directed by the villain player. The clone then goes rogue and should be removed from the game.
- Victory
| Heroes | |
| Big Win | Prevent release of the clone 20 victory points |
| Small Win | For each minion KOed (not fed to the machine) +1 VP |
| For KOing villain leader +5 VP | |
| (max VP for small win = 15 VP) | |
| Villains | |
| Big Win | Release the clone 20 victory points OR |
| KO entire hero team (this assumes clone is then released) | |
| Small Win | For each Hero KOed, +3 VP |
| For each Hero fed to the clone tank +5VP (you do not gain the points for KOing the figure however) | |
| (max VP for small win = 15 VP) |

Tips on designing a scenario
- Where possible try to make the villain team themed against each hero team. We want X-men versus Brootherhood and Superman versus Lex Luthor. Each player should supply a list of likely rogues gallery for their team, so use that for inspiration if you don't know enough about the comics.
- Don't worry too much about point value. The hero teams will be building to a specific point total, but no need to be so strict with the villain teams, just don't go crazy. An 800 point villain team against a 200 point hero team is a little unfair, although your scenario could be designed such that it becomes more reasonable. You will have to design a half dozen teams for a campaign night, but it should be possible to do without needing to work out exact totals with a calculator.
- Villains cheat. Again, the heroes may be limited in experience level, use of feats or BFCs, but the villains are not.
- Try and design all your villain teams along broadly similar lines. If one villain team is a leader with lots of generics, try to do the same for the other villain teams. It's not always possible, but it makes scenario design more consistent around each game.
- Try to design a scenario which is not won by most KOs. Mix things up, with rescues, waypoints, flag capturing, timed events and story elements. don't make it so that it takes an hour to explain your scenario, but don't be afraid of a little complexity (or imbalance).

Frequently Asked Quetions
- Should the core 8 Characters be based on on a comic team or a Team
Ability (TA) ?
Your core team can either be strongly themed around a comic book team (eg Satellite-era JLA) or around a particular Heroclix team ability (eg Batman Ally). - What set ?
The characters you choose can be from any set, so if your core team includes Wolverine, you can play any version of him (except the promo figures). Figures from new sets are legal on release. - How many points do I bring along
It is in Requirments for the evening of the Campaign. - Any restriction on figures.
Retirement has gone only restriction is trying to keep them within a comic theme. - Battle Field Conditions
These are also brought in under Requirments for the evening of the Campaign. - Bystander Tokens
These can be picked as part of your characters for instance James Madox. - Can I choose a wildcard team?
Yes, if you want to play Legion or Spider-man teams you may. If you wish to include other TAs in your core group to wildcard from however, they need to have strong comic book links (the character should not be put in just because you want the team ability. In the case of Legion that makes Superboy or Supergirl likely possibilities, for Spiderman there's any number of strong connections to FF, X-men, Avengers or even Iceman and Firestar. See Rob Edwards the Campaign Guru for final agreement. - Can I use duplicates?
In general, no. However if one of your core characters has the power to create duplicates (eg Multiple Man or Triplicate Girl) then you can field multiples of this character.
